‘’ In a learning organizations; Leaders are designers, stewards and teachers. They are responsible for building organizations where people continually expand their capabilities to understand complexity, clarify vision and improve shared mental models - That is, They are responsible for learning. PETER SENGEOn last seminar We learnt about Organizational learning and Learning organization. Today I want to write about Learning and Organizational culture.
I) When the class started Teacher asked us about what was the meaning of ‘’ L=P+Q+A+R’’?.
1. Programmed knowledge /We can get programmed knowledge at schools, universities, colleges, courses etc… Through books, lectures, and other structured learning mechanisms./
2. Questioning /Questions asked of experiences, at the right time and considered with care, will yield new insights. This approach to learning is best suited to arenas where personal insights are most useful. /
3. Action / It is a process that involves a small group working on real problems, taking action and learning as individuals, as a team and as an organization./
4. Reflection /It is the most important part of the learning. However you learn best visually, auditory, or kinesthetically, You will reap the most rewards by spending time reflecting on your experiences./
In my opinion, Learning is a complex thing. Human life is progressing every day with observation and learning. Education is not limited to bookish knowledge, attending exams or acquiring degrees. We can learn so many things through our own experiences, observing others, following media reports and so forth. As experience is the best teacher, we are learning lots more thing from our own deeds. Though we are making mistakes, crossing the borders, these all are much beneficial for us to discover more things that are new. The wisdom, which we gained like this way will be with us probably in all our lifetime. This will show as the right way and enable us to be wise in our activities. So I mean, The most important thing of learning is about self reflection. For example, Attitude, behavior, communication skills, interests and talents, participation, social skills, time management, work habits etc… All of them are result of our self reflection.
II) Culture is not an easily defined concept, but generally it is the values, beliefs, and norms expressed in work practices and behavior. An organization's culture is not necessarily an articulated list of values found in a carefully worded statement or available as an appendix in an annual report. Rather, culture is created by the organization itself. How employees treat and interact with one another and the values of the employees and the organization, such as work ethic, manifest an organization's culture. I think Worker’s individual behavior makes influences in organizational culture. So As leaders who are trying to get our organizations to become more effective, have to work more with employees like face to face.
