KNOWLEDGE IS POWER, COMMUNITY IS STRENGTH AND POSITIVE ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING.
LANCE ARMSTRONG17th of May, Our classmate鄭美惠 shared a topic about Lifelong learning and Community development with classmates. On her presentation she shared so many meaningful and important videos with students. It was one of the advantage of her presentation. On her presentation she noted that:
In the era of lifelong learning, only by the "community" from the bottom up to create and promote, can only truly comprehensive, sustained and diversified to promote the implementation and development of lifelong learning. However, the community to create, carry out and carry forward, we must rely on community members to learn before they can properly handle, through lifelong and universal learning, to promote the general public to enhance the quality of the community.
Also in the presentation the meaning of the community is as following:
• The most basic living unit of human beings
• Has its unique life, human content
• Sharing, co-governance of life
• The range may be small, small to the village settlements, large to the global village
The nature of this rapidly changing society demands that individuals and communities take up this challenge, so that they can play their part in shaping the future. The terms community development and lifelong learning have been in use for several decades and refer to different areas within the field of adult education.
Lifelong learning offers a holistic perspective on the role of education in a person’s life cycle. It affirms that learning, as a continuous process in life, plays an essential role in enabling individuals to adapt to, and deal with, new challenges and changes in their lives and surrounding environment.
Lifelong learning, embracing all forms of educational and learning experiences, helps individuals to engage in purposeful interactions with their environment through the development of their knowledge, skills and critical thinking abilities. in human life cycle in today’s world, the traditional emphasis on building the foundation of basic knowledge and competencies and acquiring the intellectual and technical tools of learning in the first quarter of life has to be complemented by lifelong learning in a learning society where all participate in and contribute to learning throughout life.
We must become bigger than we have been: more courageous, greater in spirit, larger in outlook. We must become members of a new race, overcoming petty prejudice, owing our ultimate allegiance not to nations but to our fellow men within the human community. Haile Sel***eBest regards,
